If (bad) UX did real life
This dates back to 2016. There seem to be a lot of (single) UXers who still think this is the way to start a relationship.
Star Trek: Discovery moving to Paramount is good news for Netflix
Unpopular opinion: Paramount pulling Star Trek: Discovery from Netflix is a good move for the platform. Instead of being hamstrung by paying for something mediocre, it can invest in new and original concepts.
Netflix has produced and supported a lot of interesting Sci-Fi over the years without the legacy of a “fandom” to satisfy. Not all of it has hit home (The OA springs to mind) and some survived for a single series. Yet it’s also tapped into non-English speaking producers to bring us Dark, Zero, Tribes of Europa and 3%.
Undoubtedly Star Trek fans will lament having to buy another subscription. Those of us less committed to the cause should look forward to whatever sci-fi goodness Netflix cooks up next.
One of my daft doodles that went nowhere fast. I think I was aiming for a Conservative Party Member of Parliament.
USA: fuelling global pollution
Originally created as a hero image for an article on the failure of the US Green Deal. It still has relevance: no matter how much effort the US puts into fixing its obsession with oil, goal and pollution, there will always be those fighting against it.
Sometimes while paying lip service to the changes needed.
How to restore infinite scroll in the WordPress media library
WordPress 5.8 made life a little harder for those of us with large media libraries. Infinite scrolling is disabled by default, so we have to click through our images 40 at a time.
There is good news. Add the following line of code to your function.php or site plugin and infinite scrolling is restored.
add_filter( 'media_library_infinite_scrolling', '__return_true' );
Facebook, Meta and Matrix
Maybe it was low hanging fruit. Either way, the more I heard about Facebook/Meta wanting subscribers to live in their digital world, the more I think “Matrix”. Only instead of being reduced to a battery, you’re a money making machine.
Maybe I’m just cynical.
