An abandoned driving school in Myohoji

As Japan’s population ages, so the need for housing falls. It’s led to countless houses being left abandoned across the country, and innovative programmes to encourage people to buy them.

It isn’t only houses being left to nature. This is a driving school not far from where I live. As far as I can tell it’s abandoned.

Maybe people don’t need to learn to drive anymore.

Born in the UK in the early 70s, I’ve enjoyed a diverse and eclectic career. I spent time in IBM, survived the dot.com bust, got myself well known in Insurance, and lived through more digital transformation projects than is healthy. In late ’20, in the middle of a pandemic, I upped sticks and moved to Kobe, Japan with my wife.
